Problem
Snaps and stories disappear by default, but many users want to keep memories, organize them, or share them later. Without proper setup, Memories may get cluttered or lost.
Solution
Snapchat Memories lets you save, search, and organize your snaps and stories for future use. Using the right settings makes it more efficient.
Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1: Save snaps to Memories
- Open Snapchat.
- Go to Profile > Settings (⚙️).
- Scroll to Memories.
- Under Save Button, choose:

- Memories & Camera Roll
Step 2: Organize with My Eyes Only
- Open Memories (swipe up on the camera screen).
- Select snaps to hide.
- Tap Move to My Eyes Only.
- Set a passcode (if not already).
- These snaps are locked behind a PIN for extra privacy.
Step 3: Search and sort Memories
- Use the search bar in Memories to find snaps by keywords, dates, or filters.
- Snapchat automatically organizes by people, places, or objects.
Step 4: Create stories from Memories
- Open Memories.
- Select multiple snaps.
- Tap the + Story button.
- Share as a new Story or send to friends.
Optional Methods or Tools
- Export Memories to your Camera Roll or Google Photos/iCloud for backup.
- Use third-party cloud storage for extra security (after exporting).
Best Practices / Tips
- Regularly back up Memories to avoid data loss when switching devices.
- Use My Eyes Only for private snaps — but remember: if you forget your passcode, Snapchat cannot recover it.
- Keep Memories tidy by deleting duplicates or unimportant snaps.
- Use Memories to celebrate anniversaries or “On This Day” throwbacks.
