How to Record a Microsoft Teams Meeting and Find the Recording

Step by step instructions

Join the Teams meeting

Open Microsoft Teams or go to:

https://teams.microsoft.com

Join the meeting from your Teams calendar, Outlook invite, meeting link, or chat.

Make sure you are signed in with the correct work or school account.

Meeting recording is generally controlled by organisation settings, so personal accounts may not have the same recording options.

Start recording during the meeting

Once inside the meeting, open the meeting controls.

Select More or the three dots.

Look for Record and transcribe or Start recording.

Select Start recording.

Teams will notify participants that recording has started.

If you do not see the recording option, your account, role, meeting type, or organisation policy may not allow you to record.

Confirm that recording is running

After starting the recording, check that Teams shows a recording indicator.

You may see a red dot, recording message, or meeting banner.

If you do not see any recording indicator, open the More menu again and check whether the option still says Start recording or has changed to Stop recording.

Stop the recording

Wait for the recording to process

Find recordings from normal meetings
