Problem

You want to use the DPI Shift feature on your Logitech G502 to temporarily lower or change sensitivity—useful for precise aiming or detailed work—but you’re not sure how it works or how to set it up.

Solution

DPI Shift is a feature that allows you to temporarily switch to a different DPI level while holding down a specific button on the mouse. This is especially useful for FPS games where high DPI is good for movement, but low DPI is better for aiming.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Open Logitech G Hub

2. Assign a DPI Shift Button

  1. Go to the Assignments tab
  2. Hover over a button on the mouse diagram (usually the thumb button is the default DPI Shift)
  3. Click the button, then choose:
    • Mouse Function > DPI Shift
  4. Confirm the assignment

You can reassign DPI Shift to any programmable button—whatever feels natural during use.

3. Configure DPI Levels for Shift Mode

  1. Switch to the DPI (Sensitivity) tab
  2. Set multiple DPI levels (e.g., 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200)
  3. One of the DPI levels will be marked with a target icon 🎯—this is the DPI Shift value
  • To change it:
    • Click a different DPI level
    • Click the target icon to assign it as the Shift DPI

4. Test DPI Shift Behavior

  • Hold down the DPI Shift button
  • Cursor should move slower or faster (depending on the assigned value)
  • Release the button to return to your normal DPI

This allows quick, temporary precision control—great for headshots, design work, or even scrolling long documents with accuracy.

Notes

  • DPI Shift only works when G Hub is running (unless saved to onboard memory)
  • You can disable the DPI Shift function entirely by unassigning it from the button
  • If using onboard memory mode, DPI Shift is stored as part of your hardware profile
