The G502 buttons are not working properly—how can I fix this?

Problem
One or more buttons on your Logitech G502 mouse aren’t responding as expected, triggering the wrong action, or not registering at all—making it difficult to game or work effectively.
Solution
This issue can be caused by misconfigured profiles, software bugs, dirty or worn hardware switches, or conflicts with other apps. You can troubleshoot it by testing the hardware, checking your Logitech G Hub settings, and resetting the mouse.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
1. Test Buttons in a Basic Environment
- Open Notepad or any app that accepts key input
- Press each G502 button:
- Do any perform the wrong action?
- Do some not respond at all?
If all buttons fail:
- Continue with hardware/software checks
If only certain buttons fail: - Likely a G Hub profile or hardware issue
2. Check G Hub Assignments
- Open Logitech G Hub
- Select your G502 mouse
- Go to the Assignments tab
- Ensure that each button:
- Has a valid function assigned
- Is not unassigned or disabled
- Try assigning basic keyboard functions (like “B” or “1”) to test responsiveness
You can also try switching to a default profile to rule out custom misconfigurations.
3. Try Onboard Memory Mode
- Click the gear icon ⚙️ in G Hub
- Switch to Onboard Memory Mode
- Test buttons again using the hardware-stored configuration
- This bypasses G Hub entirely—if buttons work here, your software profile may be corrupted
4. Perform a Hardware Reset
G502 Hero / Lightspeed Reset:
- Unplug or power off the mouse
- Hold down:
- Left click + Right click + DPI Up (3–5 seconds)
- Reconnect or power back on
This resets hardware settings to default.
5. Update Firmware and G Hub
- In G Hub > Gear icon > Check for firmware updates
- Install any available updates
- Restart G Hub and test again
6. Inspect for Physical Damage
- Check for sticking buttons, dust, or grime
- Lightly clean around the buttons with compressed air or a dry brush
- If a switch feels loose, mushy, or double-clicks frequently, it may be a mechanical failure
Logitech mice with mechanical issues may qualify for warranty replacement.
7. Try Another Computer
- Plug the mouse into a different PC without G Hub
- If buttons still don’t work, the issue is likely hardware-related
- If they work fine elsewhere, return to your PC and try reinstalling G Hub
Notes
- Some games override or ignore mouse button inputs—test in multiple apps
- Third-party macro or overlay tools can interfere (e.g., Razer Synapse, Discord overlays)
- You can export and back up profiles in G Hub before resetting, just in case
