Problem
Your Logitech G502 mouse randomly disconnects and reconnects, either momentarily stopping input or disappearing from Logitech G Hub. This may happen during use, charging, or while idle.
Solution
Intermittent disconnections are commonly caused by USB power issues, faulty cables or receivers, driver conflicts, or wireless interference. You can isolate and resolve the issue with the steps below.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
1. Check USB Connection
- For Wired Models (Hero, G502 X Wired):
- Try a different USB port (preferably on the back of the motherboard)
- Avoid USB hubs and extension cables
- Use a high-quality, undamaged cable
- For Wireless Models (Lightspeed, X Plus):
- Ensure the Lightspeed receiver is firmly connected
- Use the USB extender to place the receiver closer to the mouse
- Test with another USB port or PC to rule out port instability
2. Disable USB Power Saving
Windows may disable USB ports to conserve power:
- Press
Win + X> Device Manager - Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
- Right-click each USB Root Hub > Properties
- Under Power Management, uncheck:
- “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
Do the same for Human Interface Devices (for HID-compliant mouse entries).
3. Update or Reinstall G Hub and Firmware
- Open Logitech G Hub
- Go to the gear icon ⚙️ > Check for Updates
- If G Hub is acting up:
- Uninstall G Hub
- Delete residual folders (
C:\Program Files\LGHUB,AppData\Local\LGHUB) - Reinstall from https://www.logitechg.com/ghub
4. Reduce Wireless Interference
Wireless disconnects are often caused by 2.4GHz interference:
- Keep the receiver at least 12 inches from Wi-Fi routers or Bluetooth devices
- Use the included USB extension cable to improve signal quality
- Avoid stacking receivers (e.g., other wireless dongles next to it)
5. Test Battery or Cable Issues
- For wireless models, check if the disconnect happens:
- Only when charging → try a different charging cable
- At low battery → charge to 100% and monitor behavior
6. Try on a Different Computer
- If the mouse works fine on another system:
- It may be a software or port issue
- If disconnects continue:
- The problem may be hardware-related
Notes
- A loose or worn-out cable (wired models) can cause momentary disconnects even with light movement
- Some users report improved stability by lowering the polling rate to 500Hz in G Hub
- If under warranty, Logitech may offer a replacement device
