Problem

The RGB lighting on your Logitech G502 isn’t turning on, syncing, or responding to changes in Logitech G Hub.

Solution

RGB lighting issues are usually caused by power-saving settings, software misconfigurations, outdated firmware, or onboard memory conflicts. You can restore lighting functionality with a few targeted troubleshooting steps.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

1. Check Power and Connectivity

  • Wired Models: Make sure the USB cable is securely connected and functional.
  • Wireless Models:
    • Ensure the mouse is powered on
    • Confirm it’s not in low-power mode (battery below 10%)
    • Try charging the mouse—lighting may disable when the battery is low

2. Restart or Reconnect G Hub

  • Quit Logitech G Hub completely (right-click > Exit in system tray)
  • Re-launch G Hub and allow it to fully load
  • Ensure the G502 is detected and visible in the G Hub dashboard

If it doesn’t appear:

  • Try another USB port (directly on the motherboard if possible)
  • Re-pair wireless models using the “Pair a device” feature in G Hub

3. Reassign Lighting in G Hub

  • Click the G502 in G Hub
  • Go to the LIGHTSYNC tab
  • Try setting a Fixed Color or Color Cycle effect
  • Confirm the brightness slider is not at 0%
  • Toggle Sync Lighting OFF (in case another device profile is overriding settings)

4. Check Onboard Memory Settings

  • If you’re using Onboard Memory Mode, lighting is limited to basic effects
  • Switch back to Software Mode by clicking the profile dropdown and selecting your G Hub-managed profile
  • If lighting works now, the issue was likely related to onboard profile limitations

5. Update Firmware

  • In G Hub, click the gear icon ⚙️ for your mouse
  • Check for and install firmware updates
  • Reboot your system after updating

6. Try a Factory Reset (if nothing else works)

You can reset onboard profiles:

  • Open G Hub > Onboard Memory tab
  • Delete all onboard profiles and reimport a default one
  • Or hold down DPI Up + DPI Down + Center Button for ~5 seconds on some models (unofficial method)

Notes

  • RGB lighting is disabled automatically to conserve battery on wireless G502 models
  • MacOS users may experience limited lighting support in G Hub
  • RGB effects only sync across devices if LIGHTSYNC is enabled and G Hub is running
